Poundland is ‘selling’ Harry’s famous invisibility cloak for free!

Heads up Harry Potter fans! Poundland on Corporation Street, Birmingham are stocking Harry Potter invisibility cloaks for free… Genius!Poundland is ‘selling’ Harry’s famous invisibility cloak for free.

Selected Poundland stores across the country are displaying the ‘invisibility cloaks’ on hangers with a card that reads ‘Halloween Invisibility Cloak FREE’.

Poundland’s trading director, Tim Bettley stated that Poundland “intended to trial this item last year, but couldn’t find it in the distribution centre. But now we’ve found it, we think our customers will see the value, if not the cloak”.

He also added that the cloak is available in an “extensive range of unisex sizes”.

The cloaks have gained attention on social media, with shoppers making light of the product, with comments like:

“it needs ironing…” and “I can’t see anyone wearing it…”.

Not only are Poundland drawing in customers to their Halloween range with the free cloaks, but they have also changed the voice of their self-service tills to Dracula.

The invisibility cloak can be found in selected Poundland stores across the country including London Stratford High Street, Salford City, Bristol Galleries, Byker Retail Park (Newcastle) and Leeds Lands Lane.

Using national holidays and events like Halloween is a clever way of using an already ‘trending’ event and using it to draw attention to you and your company. In this instance, Poundland have used the ‘invisibility cloak’ to draw attention to their extensive Halloween selection in store.
