Visual storytelling is an important part of a brand’s marketing strategy, but when you have limited resources to help you create new branding materials, it can be tricky to keep things consistent.

However, there are a number of photoshop hacks that can help with your brand’s visual content, and here at Make More Noise HQ, we’ve pin-pointed the best of them:

Keep your brand colours consistent

Your web, social or marketing imagery doesn’t have to be over the top, but it should accurately represent your brand. You can do the simplest things with a standard image, such as incorporating your brand’s colours and/or adding your logo so that consumers immediately connect any product or service related imagery with your business and your brand.

Tip: You can source the exact colour of your brand’s colours using the colour picker tool on photoshop. The colour will automatically be picked straight into the colour palette, and you can use it whenever and wherever you want.

Portray the simplest of information with shapes and icons

Are you creating a whitepaper, or do you have data to showcase to a client? Don’t underestimate the power of Photoshop’s shapes and icons tool. For example, why not create small pie charts using a simple circle shape. Not only will it demonstrate the type of data you want to present, but it will be visually engaging for your customers or team members too.

There are small icons available to download which can be ‘branded’ using your colour picker tool skill from above.

Brighten up your imagery

There’s nothing worse than going through a brand’s Instagram to find the most dull and uninteresting images. It can immediately turn a consumer off and put your business in a bad light, yet it’s easily avoidable.

Tip: Take your chosen image and simply play around with Photoshop’s ‘effects’. You can brighten the image or add some saturation to a certain area. It takes minutes but can immediately make your imagery look more appealing, whilst brightening your Instagram feed.

Consistency is key

Telling the same story through your imagery is key for building a brand that consumers recognise and engage with.

Simple things like the same placement of your logos, text or font will create consistency and encourage visual recognition.

This can easily be achieved via reusing the same document in photoshop, with all the template imagery still in place, so all you have to do is change the imagery or change the slogan you’re promoting at the time. It’s really that easy!
