12 Days of Twitter

It’s less than two weeks to go until the big day, and although this may throw some last-minute shoppers into panic, many businesses will be hoping to top Christmas sales forecasts and bring in the New Year with a bang!

One sure-fire way of increasing consumer interest is by increasing engagement online, particularly via Social Media.

Struggling to put a Festive plan into place? Fear not, the team at Make More Noise have put together our top 12 social media tips to help you along the way…

  1. Use Festive Hashtags: When your tweeting about Christmas offers, Christmas promotions or even your Christmas work party make sure you’re using the relevant Festive hashtag to engage your target audiences. #Christmas2016
  2. Get seasonal with your profile: Update your social media profiles with a festivie profile pic and/or cover image that will also appeal to your customers. Own a bakery? Create a cover photo with festive goodies on offer. Service based business? Get your Christmas jumpers at the ready for a festive team shot.
  3. Create a Festive giveaway or competition: The Christmas countdown provides the perfect opportunity for a Festive giveaway or competition, enabling you to spread some festive cheer whilst increasing business engagement.
  4. Keep going: Christmas may be over come December 26th, but the Festive period certainly hasn’t drawn to a close, which means it’s important to keep your social media presence going. Jump on board the retail train and take advantage of the fact potential customers will be off work and looking to spend in the sales!
  5. Go behind the scenes: Are your team like Santa’s little helpers scrabbling to get everything done on time? Show some personality behind your brand by posting imagery and updates dedicated to this hard work. Aside from appearing more relatable, it should score you some good customer service points too!
  6. Shop on Social: Own a product based business? Make sure your offering is available on social media by setting up your very own Facebook Shop. Need a helping hand? More details can be found HERE.
  7. Time sensitive voucher codes: Festive voucher codes or offers unique to social media platforms will not only provide your followers with a little Christmas gift of their own, but will also ensure you can measure just how engaged your followers are.
  8. Festive Polls: Tap into your fun side and launch Festive polls dedicated to all things Christmas… who should be Christmas number 1 this year? What is the best or worst Christmas film… let your target audience decide whilst realising your social media feed is a good place to be!
  9. Have Fun: Remember Christmas is a time of fun and enjoyment, it shouldn’t be all sell sell sell and consumers will soon get bored if bombarded with messages of Christmas offers 24/7. Get the balance just right and you will secure more followers for the long term.
  10. Schedule Christmas Day messages: No-one expects you to be glued to your Twitter feed on December 25th, but so many people still turn to social media platforms to send messages and publish posts of goodwill. Schedule your own festive message so you can reach and engage with your customers on Christmas Day without having to take 5 from the turkey.
  11. Consistent imagery: Take your time when creating your social media imagery for Festive promotions: Include seasonal elements, such as snowflakes or baubles, whilst remaining consistent to ensure your brand is instantly recognisable.
  12. Use video: According to stats Video represented a third of all online activity in 2016, with popularity predicted to rise well into 2017. Jump on the band wagon and use video as part of your festive social media strategy – from product reviews and how to’s, to a simple Festive message.
